What changed in the latest version

The latest version of Senate Bill 5891 has shifted its focus slightly, changing the terminology from "criminal offense" to "felony offense" when describing trespassing on a school bus. It now specifies that trespassing includes any intentional act that disrupts the normal operation of a public school bus, rather than requiring the act to create a substantial risk of harm to passengers or the driver. This change aims to enhance safety and order on school buses, providing clearer legal grounds for penalizing disruptive behavior. It matters because it may lead to stricter enforcement and potentially reduce chaos on school transportation, thus protecting students better.
