The recent amendment to Bill SB 401 introduces a new chapter in Virginia's laws focused on gaming enforcement but removes a reference to the Department of State Police. Instead of relying on this department for certain enforcement aspects, the bill now emphasizes the role of a newly established Gaming Enforcement Coordinator. This change matters because it centralizes the responsibility for overseeing gaming laws, potentially leading to more effective and streamlined enforcement.
