Plain-language change summary

In the latest version of SB 5398, the criteria for funding domestic violence services have shifted. Previously, the bill included a detailed consideration of factors like geographic location and the needs of underserved populations in grant awards, but this language has been removed. Now, a set percentage of funding will be evenly distributed and the rest allocated based on bed capacity, which could affect how resources are targeted. Additionally, a new work group is being formed to review the funding allocation formula, ensuring that a broader range of stakeholders will have input on how financial support is distributed. This change matters because it aims to streamline funding while ensuring that those with firsthand experience contribute to future funding strategies.
