The updated version of Bill SB 1473 clarifies the process for assessing new mandated health insurance benefits that are not similar to previously reviewed measures. It sets a specific timeframe of 24 months for the Health Insurance Reform Commission to complete its assessments and ensures that a report is sent to the relevant legislative committee chair. These changes matter because they aim to streamline the review process and provide clearer guidelines for how new health benefits are evaluated, potentially improving the efficiency of health insurance reform efforts in Virginia.
