Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to SB 512 updated several sections related to the regulation of the alcohol industry in Michigan. Most notably, the name of the grape and wine industry council has been changed to the Michigan craft beverage council, which reflects a broader focus on all craft beverages, not just wine. Additionally, provisions were added to clarify definitions related to alcohol products and devices used for consuming alcohol. This matters because it helps create clearer guidelines for the industry, supports local artisans, and is likely to encourage more diverse craft beverage production in the state.
