Plain-language change summary

The amendments to HB 488 clarify the definitions and responsibilities of a parent and those supervising a child. The terms "guardian" were not included in the initial wording but have been added alongside "parent" to ensure comprehensive coverage of individuals responsible for child welfare. Additionally, the language was simplified to make it more straightforward regarding the actions of those supervising children, which helps in understanding the legal expectations. This matters because it streamlines accountability for the care and safety of children, ensuring that anyone in a supervisory role is clear on their responsibilities.
