Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill SB 191 has made some important changes regarding fire safety inspection requirements for historic buildings. It now explicitly requires the municipality’s code administrator to inspect the building if the owner fails to comply with the necessary conditions. This ensures that buildings are regularly checked for fire safety measures, such as functional smoke detectors and portable fire extinguishers, which are crucial for the safety of residents and visitors. By clarifying the inspection process and the responsibilities of the municipality, it enhances accountability and promotes safer living environments in historic buildings.
