In the amended version of Bill SB 669, an important change was made to clarify that only full-time police officers who have met certain vesting requirements are eligible to purchase up to five years of pension service credit for their previous police work. This adjustment ensures that only officers who have served long enough to qualify for pension benefits can buy additional service time, which helps protect the integrity of the pension system. By specifying these requirements, the amendment aims to promote fairness and responsible management of municipal pension resources.
