The latest version of Bill SB 170 has added provisions to support efforts in helping the wrongfully convicted in Michigan. Specifically, it now emphasizes increasing the capacity and efficiency of the clinic that assists in reviewing these cases. This change is important because it aims to ensure that more individuals who may have been wrongfully convicted can receive the assistance they need, which could lead to potential exonerations. Additionally, some language related to the allocation of funds for judicial complaints was revised for clarity.
