Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to SB 95 involve the removal of the definition of "ancillary service" and "chargemaster." These changes streamline the bill by focusing specifically on the rules relating to debt collection actions for medical services provided by hospitals that were non-compliant with pricing transparency laws. This matters because it clarifies the protections for patients, ensuring that they cannot be pursued for debts related to services that were not transparently priced, potentially reducing unexpected financial burdens on patients during vulnerable times.
