Plain-language change summary

The amendments to SB 221 involve adding a definition for an additional unfair claims practice within the New Mexico Insurance Code. Specifically, it focuses on enhancing consumer protections by clearly defining behaviors that insurers should avoid, such as misrepresenting coverage facts or failing to communicate promptly with policyholders. This change is significant because it aims to hold insurers accountable and ensure that individuals have fair access to information and timely responses regarding their claims, ultimately protecting consumers' rights.
