The recent amendments to Bill HB 79 introduce new provisions that establish an interstate compact for audiology and speech-language pathology services. One key addition is the requirement for state and federal criminal history background checks for practitioners in these fields. This change is significant because it aims to improve public access to necessary services while also ensuring that practitioners meet safety and regulatory standards across state lines. This will help streamline the practice of audiology and speech-language pathology, allowing for better service delivery to individuals who need support in these areas.
