The updated version of SB 70 clarifies several aspects of judicial salaries in New Mexico. It clearly states that justices of the state Supreme Court will receive a salary increase and removes the previous formulas used to determine magistrates' salaries. This change is significant because it simplifies the compensation structure for judges and may ensure that justices receive a more predictable and potentially increased salary. Overall, these amendments highlight a legislative intent to enhance judicial compensation in a straightforward manner.
