The amendments to HB 171 update graduation requirements for students entering ninth grade in the 2025-2026 school year. The changes emphasize the importance of preparing students for success in both further education and the workforce, specifically by encouraging schools to offer a variety of courses aligned with students' future goals. This matters because it aims to ensure that students are not only receiving a diploma but are also equipped with the skills necessary for lifelong learning and career readiness.
