Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill SB 271 introduces a requirement for courts to keep individuals in custody if they are arrested for a new felony while on pretrial release for a previous one. This means that those individuals won't have the option for bail until a judge considers whether to change or revoke their release conditions. This change aims to ensure greater public safety by preventing potentially dangerous individuals from being released back into the community while their cases are pending. Overall, it reflects a stronger stance on managing pretrial offenders.
