The amendments to SB 210 introduce the "National Guard Death Benefit Act," which establishes a new fund specifically for providing death benefits to National Guard members who die in service. This fund will collect money from donations and state appropriations, managed by the department of military affairs, ensuring that these benefits are readily available. This change is significant because it formalizes financial support for the families of fallen National Guard members, recognizing their service and sacrifice in a structured way.
