The updated version of Bill HM 46 has added several lines emphasizing the importance of the Federal Affordable Connectivity Program, which helps lower-income households access affordable internet services. This change highlights that more than 22 million American households benefit from this program, enabling them to access education, job opportunities, and essential services online. By making these points clearer, the bill aims to strengthen support from New Mexico's congressional delegation for continued funding, which is essential for maintaining and expanding internet access for those who need it most. This matters because enhanced internet access can significantly improve quality of life and economic opportunities for underserved communities.
