Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill HM 50 now requests the city of Albuquerque to maintain the residential and agricultural character of the El Jaral neighborhood and Montoya Road, rather than asking for a specific zoning designation. This change emphasizes the importance of preserving the community's existing character without tying it to a specific zoning classification. By doing this, the bill aims to protect the area’s historical agricultural aspects and engage the community more effectively regarding any prospective changes. This matters because it seeks to ensure that residents' voices are considered before any alterations that might affect their homes and farms are made.
