The recent amendments to Bill HB 83 made several key changes to the Podiatry Act in New Mexico. Notably, the title for practicing podiatrists has been changed to "podiatric physician," which highlights their medical expertise. Additionally, the amendments create a new Podiatry Advisory Committee to provide guidance to the New Mexico Medical Board, and simplify the licensure renewal process by removing certain requirements, such as the taxation registration number. These changes aim to modernize the regulatory framework for podiatric practice, making it more efficient and reflective of current medical standards.
