The changes made to Bill SB 206 include adding a provision that exempts the Forestry Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department from the state's Procurement Code when distributing federal grants to non-governmental entities and individuals selected by the federal government. This means they can bypass some procurement regulations when handling these grants related to forestry programs. The exemption is significant as it allows for a faster and more flexible allocation of funds, which can help support important forestry initiatives without the delays that come with standard procurement processes.
