Vetoed by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (Democratic) on April 10, 2023.

This bill is no longer active — its legislative session has ended, so there is no live prognosis. It would have to be reintroduced in the current session to move again.

Plain-language change summary

The updated version of SB 111 removes a provision that included a budget allocation for the program aimed at suspending fees for first-time licenses. The bill still maintains the core idea of waiving these fees to help new professionals enter the workforce without financial barriers. This change highlights a focus on gathering data to evaluate the impact of the fee suspension, rather than committing funds upfront. This matters because it shifts the focus from immediate budget impact to long-term analysis of the program's effectiveness.
