Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to SB 146 clarify and update several aspects of tax law in New Mexico. Key changes include defining tax fraud related to the use of sales suppression software, outlining clearer processes for challenging property assessments, and establishing the conditions under which tax assessments must occur. This matters because it enhances transparency in tax processes and introduces stricter consequences for tax evasion, aiming to ensure fair tax practices and protect state revenue.
