Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 6 introduces zero-interest loans for local governments in New Mexico to help them repair public infrastructure damaged by recent disasters like fires and flooding. It specifies that these loans will only be available if the local governments have already been approved for federal assistance funding. This change is important because it ensures that local entities have access to financial support without the burden of interest, facilitating quicker recovery and rebuilding efforts following the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon fire.
