The amendment to SB 2 specifies that justices of the state supreme court will have their salaries set to match the salaries of New Mexico's federal magistrate judges. It removes any outdated formulas previously used to determine salaries for magistrates. This change simplifies the salary structure for judicial positions and ensures that the state's supreme court justices are paid at a level consistent with federal magistrates, which may enhance the state's ability to attract qualified judges.
