Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill HB 73 now allows certain retired educators in New Mexico to return to work without having to suspend their retirement benefits. Previously, retirees who took jobs beyond a certain part-time threshold had to give up their retirement payments unless they had been retired for at least a year. This change matters because it makes it easier for retired educators to re-enter the workforce, which can help alleviate teacher shortages and improve educational support in the state.
