The amended version of Bill SB 123 changes the sunset date for the state racing commission from July 1, 2021, to July 1, 2027. This means that instead of being disbanded in 2021, the commission will continue its operations for an additional six years. This is significant because it allows the commission to maintain oversight of racing activities in New Mexico, which can have economic and regulatory implications for the industry. Additionally, it ensures that the commission will operate under the existing laws until July 1, 2028, providing stability and continuity during that time.
