Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Senate Bill 178 has removed a provision that previously allowed for the possibility of imposing a higher property tax rate if it was approved by voters within the district. This change means that only the governing body of a municipality or county can impose property taxes and only through elections or special levies, enhancing control over tax decisions. This is significant because it simplifies the process and may prevent confusion among voters about their tax options.
