The latest version of House Bill 65 adds clarity on certain housing-related regulations, including the requirement for written statements of deductions and increases in civil penalties related to nonpayment of rent. It also extends the time landlords must give tenants to remedy nonpayment issues and increases the notice periods for eviction. These changes aim to provide tenants with more protection and a fairer chance to address their situations, especially during difficult times. Overall, the updates strengthen tenant rights and promote stability in housing during emergencies.
