The recent amendment to Senate Rule 7-1-3 clarifies the procedures for senators who test positive for COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. Senators must now inform their floor leader or whip about their situation. This change is important because it ensures that the Senate can take appropriate health and safety measures during sessions, helping to protect both members and the public.
