The latest version of HB 1200 clarifies that only property owners or their designated agents have the rights to manage and receive payments for their property. Additionally, it specifies the conditions under which someone is considered a squatter, requiring owners to file a sworn affidavit with local law enforcement to begin the eviction process. These changes aim to strengthen property rights and provide a clearer legal framework for dealing with unauthorized residents. This is important as it helps property owners regain control of their land more effectively and ensures that squatters cannot easily claim rights to the property they occupy without permission.
