The recent amendments to Bill HB 1556 introduced a requirement that recent high school graduates must enroll full-time in an eligible career and technical education (CTE) program at a Mississippi community college within 12 months of graduating, or be dually-enrolled while still in high school. This change aims to ensure that students are actively pursuing their education and skill development soon after they finish high school, which is important for creating a steady workforce that meets the state's economic needs. Additionally, the bill emphasizes that students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to access these benefits, ensuring they are financially supported in their educational journey.
