Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to SB 2271 allows the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to access a line of credit up to $10 million from the state treasury to address funding shortfalls during disasters. This change is significant because it ensures that immediate financial resources are available to support disaster response efforts, particularly in meeting federal requirements for assistance after declared emergencies. Additionally, the bill re-establishes the Wireless Communication Commission, enhancing communication services for law enforcement and emergency services, which are crucial during crises.
