The recent amendment to Bill SB 2004 clarifies the definition of "State" in the context of public employee retirement plans in West Virginia and removes outdated language regarding service credit and beneficiary nominations. These updates are essential for ensuring that the bill accurately reflects current practices and provides straightforward guidelines for public employees regarding retirement benefits. Additionally, they help streamline the process for creating a special needs trust for beneficiaries with disabilities, making it easier for families to secure financial support for their loved ones. Overall, these changes aim to modernize the legislation and improve protections for vulnerable beneficiaries.
