The updated version of Bill SB 437 adds a new section to the Code of Virginia focused on protecting bicyclists and other vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and people using mobility devices. The changes involve clarifying the definition of "vulnerable road user" to ensure it includes a broader range of individuals, like those using electric scooters and skateboards. This is important because it aims to enhance safety measures and penalties for drivers who infringe on the rights of these road users, ultimately promoting safer transportation for everyone.
