Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill SB 972 made a few key adjustments regarding the fees collected from the registration of motor vehicles, trailers, and semitrailers. It specifies that 20% of these fees, calculated based on rates from December 31, 1986, will be allocated to a special fund in the state treasury to support certain expenses, rather than the general expenses of the Department. This change is significant because it clarifies the fund's purpose, ensuring that collected fees are specifically directed toward relevant costs associated with the operations and regulation of passenger transport vehicles.
