The amended bill now includes a clearer statement about who is required to report suspected child abuse and neglect within public sports programs. It clarifies that religious leaders are required to report unless the information is kept confidential by their religious beliefs or applicable legal rules. This change is significant because it aims to enhance the protection of children by ensuring that potential abuse cases are reported and addressed promptly, while also providing immunity from legal repercussions for those reporting in good faith.
