Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill SB 44 focus on sprinkler requirements for emergency service buildings. The updated bill specifies that new buildings housing emergency services must have sprinkler systems installed, but it exempts those that are 2,500 square feet or smaller and only house equipment without sleeping areas. This change matters because it strikes a balance between ensuring safety for larger emergency service facilities while reducing costs and regulations for smaller buildings that do not provide living quarters for staff.
