What changed in the latest version

The latest version of SB 227 changes the focus from the State Board of School Finance to the State Superintendent of Schools regarding compliance and enforcement of education laws. This means that the State Superintendent now has more authority to ensure that county boards of education follow state laws and policies, including the ability to withhold funding if they do not comply. This matters because it strengthens oversight in the education system and aims to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education without disruptions caused by local noncompliance.
