Plain-language change summary

The amendment to House Bill 1410 changes how interest on delinquent taxes is calculated by introducing two different rates: 12% for nonresidential properties and for residential properties with more than four units, and 9% for residential properties with four or fewer units. Additionally, the specific penalties for delayed payment have been modified for clarity, though the overall structure remains. This matters because it offers a more graduated approach to penalties and interest rates, potentially easing the financial burden on smaller property owners while still holding others accountable.
