The bill AB 302 has been amended to include a specific sales and use tax exemption for equipment and software used in certified data centers, which is intended to boost the tech industry in Wisconsin. This means that businesses operating data centers won't have to pay certain taxes on the necessary tools and software they need for data management and processing. This change is significant as it aims to attract more tech companies to the state, potentially creating jobs and enhancing the local economy. Additionally, the amendment clarifies the information-sharing processes between the Department of Revenue and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, streamlining how tax benefits are administered.
