Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill AB 1065 now explicitly prohibits University of Wisconsin institutions and technical colleges from requiring students or faculty to sign loyalty pledges related to political ideologies or movements, including those concerning diversity, equity, and inclusion. This change ensures that admissions, funding for student organizations, and faculty hiring decisions cannot be based on a person's political beliefs. This is significant as it aims to safeguard academic freedom and promote an inclusive environment free from political pressure.
