Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill AB 267 changes how housing rehabilitation loans are handled by the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority. It adds specific criteria regarding environmental contamination, like lead and mold, that must be addressed in order to qualify for loans. Additionally, it modifies the income threshold for applicants by making it based on the appraised value of the property instead of assessed value, which could ultimately affect a larger number of homeowners seeking financial assistance for property improvements. These updates aim to enhance the support available for home rehabilitations while ensuring safer living conditions.
