The latest version of SB 5863 includes specific requirements for vehicle impound situations, emphasizing that a signed authorization must be provided by the individual requesting the impound and cannot be performed by the tow truck operator themselves. Additionally, it clarifies that an individual authorizing a private vehicle impound could be held financially responsible if the impound is deemed unlawful. These changes aim to increase accountability in the vehicle impound process, protecting vehicle owners from unjust impoundments and ensuring proper procedures are followed.
