Plain-language change summary

The key changes to Assembly Bill 34 involve the rules for banning deer baiting in counties affected by chronic wasting disease (CWD) or bovine tuberculosis (bovine TB). The updated bill specifies that bans must be based solely on confirmed positive tests in free-roaming animals, rather than in both captive and free-roaming animals. Additionally, it changes the duration of restrictions on feeding deer: the maximum is now 36 months after a positive test result, compared to the previous limit of 24 months under the older law. These changes aim to provide more targeted responses to disease outbreaks while allowing more flexibility for deer feeding practices.
