Plain-language change summary

The amended bill SB 573 now includes provisions that mandate the Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) to reimburse law enforcement agencies for officers' training expenses directly, rather than through political subdivisions. Additionally, the minimum reimbursement amount for annual recertification training has been increased from $160 to $320 per officer. Importantly, this change will apply to training costs incurred starting July 1, 2024. These adjustments are significant as they provide more financial support for law enforcement agencies, potentially improving training and overall officer readiness.
