Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill SB 451 allows certain municipalities to increase the rate of their premier resort area tax from 1.25% to a maximum of 1.5%. This change means that local governments can collect a bit more money, specifically to fund public safety expenses, which is important for ensuring the safety of residents and visitors. Additionally, the previous version mentioned that the tax proceeds could also be used for infrastructure expenses, but this is no longer included, making the use of funds more focused on public safety. This matters because it prioritizes community safety funding, which can be crucial for areas that rely on tourism.
