The amended bill SB 409 now focuses on creating an online carbon calculator specifically for farmers to measure their carbon emissions linked to agricultural activities. Notably, it mandates that this calculator must be operational by June 30, 2025. Additionally, the revised version emphasizes the importance of transparency in how data is used and protects farmers' privacy by keeping their information confidential and inaccessible to government entities for identification purposes. These changes aim to support farmers in minimizing their environmental impact while ensuring their data remains secure.
