The recent amendment to Senate Bill 335 allows all school boards in Wisconsin—including those in common, union high, or unified districts—to hire a school district administrator who does not hold a license from the Department of Public Instruction. Previously, such hiring flexibility was only available to first class city school districts, like Milwaukee. This change broadens the hiring options for school boards, which could help them find qualified candidates more easily and potentially improve school leadership.
