Protect consumers from sports betting harms
I am aware of the introduction of several bills about the legalization of sports betting in Virginia. In particular, to request that you support of HB 2210.
I understand the ways Virginia may benefit from the industry. However, I am concerned about consumer harms. Only one bill adequately addresses the necessary consumer protections. HB 2210 protects the consumer's right to integrity and transparency, data privacy and security, self-exclusion, protection of the vulnerable, and recourse.
Please support HB 2210 and ensure that sports betting legalization is done so in a consumer-friendly way.
Consumer Protections for Sports Betting
HB 2210 is the only sports betting legalization bill that properly protects consumers. I am writing to you today to share with you my support of these protections and ask that you support them as well. The Commonwealth has a lot to gain from legalized sports betting. However, Virginians are also at risk.
The protections listed in HB 2210 will go a long way to maximizing the gains while minimizing the harms. It protects the integrity of the game, my personal data, and at-risk members of our community.
Please support this bill and help protect all Virginians.
