Support CA SB 1382
I stand with the Firearms Policy Coalition and support SB 1382. Present law requires impossibilities for those who have a pickup truck or other vehicle without a trunk – including farmers, construction workers, and millions of other law-abiding people. AB 1382 would remedy a clear defect in the statutes by providing for the lawful transport and keeping of a handgun in a “locked toolbox or utility box” that is “that is permanently affixed to the bed of a pickup truck or vehicle that does not contain a trunk, and is locked by a padlock, keylock, combination lock, or other similar locking device.” SB 1382 is a reasonable, common-sense change to ensure that criminal liability does not attach to good, law-abiding people who simply wish to transport and keep their firearms in the vehicle they have while complying with the laws of the State. I urge your AYE vote on SB 1382.
